About me

Agnieszka Miśkowicz

I am a psychologist and psychotherapist currently in integrative psychotherapy training with a psychodynamic orientation. I am also training in psychotraumatology using a psychoanalytic approach. My work is also inspired by a humanistic approach, which emphasises the importance of subjectivity, respect, and the developmental potential of each person. I conduct individual psychotherapy for adults, offering a space for safe exploration of oneself, one's emotions, relationships, and experiences.

My educational background:

Because I have been working with people for over twenty years in various contexts, including international environments, I have also completed numerous training courses in the areas of social and emotional skills, including multi-day interpersonal and developmental training courses in Poland and abroad.

I am also a trainer (TROP Group), a coach (International Coaching Community), and a team coach (HPR Group). I am a member of the Psychotherapy Section of the Polish Psychiatric Association. I work under supervision.

About psychotherapy

Scientific sources state that psychotherapy is a method of healing and development in the sense of improving the quality of life. It is often as effective as medication, but produces longer-lasting results.

Psychodynamic psychotherapy draws on the work of Sigmund Freud, Carl Gustav Jung, Melanie Klein, and many others who have enriched this approach over the decades. Broadly speaking, it involves delving into the deep foundations of personality, into the unconscious, which influences emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. Unearthing, experiencing, and naming this content expands the field of consciousness and contributes to the integration of the psyche and is the path to healing. Jung himself said, "Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate."

During therapy, we draw on unconscious processes, but also analyze early experiences and relationship patterns, as these determine how we experience ourselves, others, and the world. Therefore, psychodynamic psychotherapy is a form of psychotherapy based on conversation, reflection, and deepening insight. However, it is important to remember that the past is analyzed only insofar as it lives in the person's present.

In summary, psychodynamic psychotherapy:

  • focuses not only on symptoms but also on their causes and on a deeper change in the way we experience ourselves and relationships;
  • helps understand emotions, internal conflicts, and repetitive patterns;
  • assumes that current difficulties stem from past experiences;
  • places great importance on the therapeutic relationship—what is happening here and now between the therapist and the client.

Various studies show that improvement in individuals who undergo psychodynamic therapy persists long-term and often deepens after treatment ends. Unlike many short-term therapies, psychodynamic psychotherapy influences, among other things:

  • increased self-reflection (mentalisation),
  • emotion regulation,
  • sense of identity,
  • relationship quality,
  • symptoms (by reducing or eliminating them).

Psychodynamic psychotherapy is recommended for individuals with:

  • feelings of being stuck, emptiness, or a lack of meaning,
  • long-term difficulties,
  • recurring relationship problems,
  • the experience that "something is wrong, but it's difficult to name it."

In situations of discomfort in well-being or even persistent symptoms, it's worth working on yourself to start living a better life.
